How do I conduct a search for an agency using this database?
There are three options for searching this site:
Agency Search
Best Practices
Agency Search Service
Agency Search allows you to conduct a search without the involvement of the ICA.
Best Practices allows you to refer to the ICA's Best Practices for search recommendations before conducting your own agency search.
Agency Search Service allows the ICA to conduct the preliminary agency search for you and to also offer you direction on next steps.
If you chose the Agency Search option, there are three ways to search:
Alphabetically
Keyword
Multiple criteria
The alphabetical search displays agencies by the first letter in the agency's name. This is helpful when you know an agency name but not the spelling of the name, or an agency with multiple offices.
The keyword search works like a regular search engine. It finds agencies whose profiles contain your indicated keyword. Keywords may be a specific client or brand name, a discipline such as direct marketing, or industry experience such as cosmetics or technology. The keyword may not be a number, such as billings.
The multiple criteria search shows agencies that meet the precise parameters you indicate. The searchable parameters in this database include:
Clients and brands
Billings
Staff information
Agency services and industry experience
Agency location
Indicate your search criteria by pointing and clicking on the desired check boxes and pulldown menus. You may check off one or any combination of criteria for your search. Your results will be all agencies in the database that meet your requirements.

What is an “and/or” search?
An "and/or" search is another option when conducting a multiple criteria search.
An "and" search returns agencies that meet all of your indicated criteria. For example, a search for agencies that are in Canada, and have 50-100 employees, and have specific Specialized Service and Industry experience such as food and beverage experience, would produce a list of agencies that met all three criteria (Agencies in Canada with food and beverage experience and are staffed with 50-100 employees). An "and" search usually results in a short list of agencies.
An "or" search returns agencies that only meet one or more of the criteria. A search for agencies in Canada, or agencies that have 50-100 employees, or agencies with food and beverage experience might produce a list of
- All agencies in Canada
- All agencies with 50-100 employees
- All agencies with food and beverage experience
- Agencies located in Canada with 50-100 employees
- Agencies located in Canada with food and beverage experience
- Agencies located in Canada with 50-100 employees and food and beverage experience
- Agencies with 50-100 employees and food and beverage experience
- All agencies looking to gain an account in a specific category such as food & beverage
An “or” search generally results in more agencies than an “and” search.

How often do I need to update my agency information?
You should update your agency profile as often as necessary. All agency profiles have a “date stamp” indicating to users when the profile was last updated. We recommend updating your agency data once a month to maintain a current profile. Monthly email reminders will also be sent to all registered users for an agency, indicating the last time your agency profile was updated.
